It’s Over

Well, my birthday is over and Chelsea’s first year of premier soccer is over. Not that soccer is over, I don’t think that will happen any time soon.

A few other things seem to be changing too. Why can’t people just leave well enough alone? Why do we have to change things all of the time? I guess I’m old fashioned (or maybe just old) and subscribe to the theroy of “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it”.

In other ways though, I feel very “progressive”. I do believe that everyone should work smarter, not harder. I love computers and time saving ideas. I make it a point to touch things only once if at all possible to save myself time and energy later. I am going to have a new challenge soon (more details later) and it will become extremely important for me to stay organized. I will have to learn something new – listening – really listening – to people that I do not know. I will also have to focus on learning people’s names

Anyway, my birthday was just awesome! It was one of the best birthdays that I have had. It’s always good to receive wishes from people who really know you. It’s so good to get a card from someone who really “gets you”. I love that I have friends that understand and share my sense of humor. I love that I have a sister who knows what is important to me.

School is almost out and I’m planning for the summer now. Chelsea will stay home with a sitter instead of heading to a day camp. She’s a little too old for day camp and too young to stay alone. We are so fortunate to have found someone we trust with our child and in our home to care for her. I think it’s going to be a great summer.

I’m glad the Easter Bunny has come and gone. Scotty worked so hard this season to keep up with the pictures, the schedule and his lawns. He was #1 in sales in the company and he was exhausted when it was over.

Chelsea just received a progress report and she has straight “A”s. She also brought some standardized test scores home and did very well. I am so proud of her for learning to manage her time well this school year. She played a lot of soccer and still managed to keep up with regular homework as well as special projects. I just wished she liked to read a little more …

Soccer tryouts in a week !

Scripture Reading

Because my sister asked me the other day if I was still reading the same scripture since Jan, I decided to update. First of all, the answer is, no. I have moved on to Romans. I have heard the book of Romans taught so many times that I wasn’t sure I would get anything new. I was surprised! I was led to Romans by an email signature. Someone sent me an email and her signature included a scripture reference. I looked up the scripture out of curiosity and keep reading out of necessity. It opened my eyes and lightened my load at a time when I really needed it. May I suggest that you read Romans 8:18 and Romans 12:17-21 ? Then, if you are moved to do so, read the book from the beginning. Thank goodness for His mercy and grace because I certainly fall short ….

Chelsea #39

Well, she has worked the whole year and it comes down to this weekend. It’s time for the State Cup preliminaries. If the team wins this weekend, they move on to the finals next weekend. If they fail to move out of this bracket, the season abruptly ends. Our first year of “premier soccer” or “club soccer” or “select soccer” (take your pick) has been a learning experience for us all. Chelsea has become a better soccer player physically and mentally. Scotty and I have been exposed to families that we never would have come in contact with in our “normal routine” of life.

Try outs are in a couple of weeks and then we will spend a month waiting for “the invitation”. The invitation will be followed by a week of church camp in June and two weeks of soccer camp in July. That should hold her over until she begins practice in August.

In May Chelsea will more than likely go to CAP Elite www.Capelite.com twice a week. (Right now she has practice twice a week and CAP once a week.) She loves to train there and is encouraged by the feedback the trainers give her.

In addition to all of the soccer practice and training, she still manages to get great grades in school, read a few books and watch a little TV. She just finished the Chronicles of Narnia and is now reading “Chicken Soup for the Girl’s Soul”. Her American Idol favorites are Chris and Kellie.

Check back next week to see the state cup tournament results …

Updates coming

Well, as you can see, I have not done a good job with this since January. I have been busy, but the main reason I have not been “blogging” is because I forgot my username and password. Yes, I forgot. With all of the passwords floating around in my head for work, I just couldn’t come up with the one that belongs here. Obviously, I found it.

Watch here over the next couple of days for some updates. I have a lot of soccer and family visits to talk about. I also am ready to say a few things about the hurricanes. Who knows? Maybe I’ll start adding pictures.
